Libyan Emergency Services rescue 25 Sudanese, recover 7 bodies from desert near Kufra

Emergency and Ambulance Services in Kufra city successfully rescued 25 Sudanese nationals, including women and children, who were in critical condition after their truck broke down deep in the desert more than five days ago. The stranded group was found approximately 270 kilometers south of Kufra.

The service reported that ambulance teams were returning from the site of another distressed Sudanese vehicle when they encountered the broken-down truck carrying the 25 individuals. These families and children were suffering from extreme thirst and exhaustion.

Immediate medical checks were conducted, and water was provided. Women and children were then transported to Kufra, despite the limited number of ambulances available.

In the initial phase of the response, the team provided medical care and treatment for those suffering from dehydration and psychological shock due to the harsh conditions they endured while lost in the desert, which tragically led to the death of seven individuals from thirst.

In a second phase, acting on instructions from the Public Prosecution, the ambulance team, accompanied by a forensic doctor and members of the Sabeel al-Salam Brigade and the Illegal Immigration Center in Kufra, returned to the site of the distressed vehicle. There, they recovered the bodies of the seven victims after documenting the situation in the presence of the relevant authorities.
