As part of efforts to combat illegal migration, patrols affiliated with the Jufra Security Directorate, supported by elements from the Central Support, successfully apprehended approximately 285 illegal migrants. The majority of these migrants, of Sudanese nationality, had infiltrated the administrative borders of Jufra municipality on foot.
The Directorate’s Security Media Office stated that the migrants were immediately transported to the city of Hun, where they were handed over to the Anti-illegal Migration Agency – Jufra Branch. The agency, in turn, initiated primary accommodation and processing procedures in preparation for their repatriation to their countries of origin.
This operation falls within a comprehensive security plan aimed at tightening control over border areas and curbing smuggling and illegal migration activities, which are particularly active across the challenging desert routes.
