The Chief of Staff of the Ground Forces, Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar, undertook an official visit to the Italian capital, Rome, at the invitation of the Italian government. Haftar held an extensive meeting at the Italian Interior Ministry, attended by Minister Matteo Piantedosi and several senior ministry officials.
The meeting focused on discussing files of security cooperation between the two countries, foremost among them efforts to combat illegal migration, confront human trafficking networks, and curb the spread of organised crime, which are issues of mutual priority.

During the meeting, Lieutenant General affirmed the keenness of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, to support the distinguished bilateral relations between Libya and Italy and to enhance areas of joint cooperation in a manner that serves the shared interests of the two friendly nations.
For his part, the Italian Interior Minister expressed his profound gratitude and appreciation to Lieutenant General Saddam, commending his diligent efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and foster cooperation and understanding between the two sides, emphasising the depth of the partnership between Rome and Tripoli.
