American Taylor Fritz, ranked seventh in the world, clinched his first Stuttgart Open (ATP 250) title by defeating Germany’s Alexander Zverev, the world No. 3, in straight sets (6-3, 7-6 (7-0)) in the final match held on Sunday.
This victory marks Fritz’s first title of the 2025 season and his ninth career ATP Tour singles title. It also represents his fourth grass-court title, adding to his previous triumphs at Eastbourne in 2019, 2022, and 2024. Notably, Fritz did not drop a set or have his serve broken throughout the entire tournament in Stuttgart.
In the first set, Fritz showed clear dominance, breaking Zverev’s serve in the eighth game to win it 6-3. The second set saw Fritz with an opportunity to close out the match, but Zverev saved the break point and forced a tie-break. However, Fritz completely dominated the tie-break, winning it 7-0 to secure the championship.
This final was Zverev’s first on grass courts since the 2017 Halle final, where he lost to Roger Federer. Zverev, who has 24 career titles, last won a title in Munich in April. This was his third appearance in a grass-court final, and he remains without a grass-court title
