The US Embassy in Libya has lauded Al Ahly Tripoli’s victory in the 2025 Basketball Africa League (BAL 5) championship, which was contested in South Africa, extending congratulations to the club and all Libyans for this historic achievement.
An official post on the embassy’s Facebook page stated:
“Congratulations to Libya on winning the 2025 Basketball Africa League championship. As the birthplace of basketball, the United States is proud to see the sport flourishing globally. We extend our warmest congratulations to Al Ahly Tripoli on this remarkable achievement.”
This title marks Al Ahly Tripoli’s first in the prestigious continental competition, signifying a qualitative leap for Libyan basketball and underscoring the sport’s local development, both in terms of technical performance and organisational structure.
