Mohamed Ali Nafti, Tunisia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, affirmed in his address at the opening session of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) foreign ministers’ meeting in Istanbul, Tunisia’s strong condemnation of what he described as “treacherous Israeli aggression” against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Nafti reiterated Tunisia’s full solidarity with Iran in defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also emphasised his country’s firm stance with the region’s states and peoples in confronting repeated threats and blatant violations of international law.
The minister stated that this aggression constitutes a stark challenge to international legitimacy and fundamental human values. He warned that such actions should not overshadow the ongoing humanitarian tragedy in the occupied Palestinian territories, nor the systematic threats targeting the unity and stability of Lebanon and Syria.
Nafti called for an immediate and comprehensive halt to any military escalation in the region, holding the international community, especially the UN Security Council, fully responsible for the deteriorating security and humanitarian situation. He also stressed the necessity of holding Israel, the occupying power, accountable for its continuous violations of international laws and norms.
Nafti concluded his speech by reaffirming Tunisia’s steadfast adherence to its historical diplomatic principles in championing just and legitimate causes. He called for unified Islamic ranks and enhanced solidarity to confront security challenges and schemes aimed at destabilising the entire region.
