Jamal Al-Zarrouk, President of the Libyan Olympic Committee’s board of directors, held a meeting on Sunday at the Olympic Committee headquarters in Tripoli. The meeting aimed to follow up on the latest preparations by the committee tasked with developing the precise scientific programme for selecting qualified Libyan athletes to participate in the upcoming Summer Youth Olympic Games.

The anticipated Games are set to take place in the Senegalese capital, Dakar, from October 31 to November 13, 2026. This edition marks the fourth in the history of the Summer Youth Olympic Games and will feature athletes aged between 14 and 18, competing across 25 different sports, allowing for broad representation of young talent.

This global event represents a historic turning point in the trajectory of Olympic sport, as it is the first Summer Youth Olympic Games to be held on the African continent.
