The Benghazi Energy Innovation Forum commenced on Saturday morning, organised by Arkino Oil Company in cooperation with the National Oil Corporation (NOC) and the Arabian Gulf Oil Company. The forum is being held under the slogan: “Exploring New Opportunities for Libya’s Energy Future .”

The forum aims to gather senior energy sector officials and heads of national and foreign companies to discuss future strategic opportunities, foster innovation within the sector, and exchange insights on strengthening public-private cooperation.

The opening ceremony was attended by Engineer Masoud Sulaiman, Chairman of the National Oil Corporation, and Engineer Mohamed Ben Shatwan, Chairman of the Management Committee of the Arabian Gulf Oil Company, alongside several heads of NOC’s subsidiary companies and representatives from international oil firms.

In his speech, Engineer Masoud Sulaiman emphasised the significant importance of such forums in “driving the wheel of innovation and developing the Libyan energy sector to face future challenges and achieve sustainable development goals.”

For his part, Engineer Mohamed Ben Shatwan noted that the forum “represents part of a renewed national movement to advance the oil and gas sector, enhance its sustainability, and raise its operational efficiency.” He also commended Arkino Company’s initiative and its role in supporting the Arabian Gulf Oil Company’s efforts to maintain and increase production rates, stressing the importance of partnership between the public sector and serious local investors.

Ben Shatwan affirmed that new explorations, digital transformation, and raising operational efficiency constitute the fundamental pillars for developing Libya’s oil sector. He called for further cooperation and exchange of expertise under the umbrella of the National Oil Corporation, with the aim of serving the national economy and enhancing Libya’s position in the global market.

The forum’s activities continue with specialised discussion sessions and workshops, focusing on the latest technologies and developments in the energy field, and encouraging the adoption of innovative solutions that contribute to developing and improving the performance of the Libyan oil sector.
