The Ministry of Justice in the Government of National Unity (GNU) has announced the official lifting of procedural restrictions imposed on Officer Osama Al-Masri Anjim, a member of the Judicial Police apparatus. This decision was made in response to a request from the Attorney General and by the jurisdictional rules of national law.
In a statement, the Ministry affirmed that the lifting of these restrictions was in full compliance with legal provisions and was documented by an official instrument bearing the supply stamp from the Attorney General’s office. The Ministry noted that the officer in question had submitted to investigation on April 28, 2025.
The Ministry clarified that the Public Prosecution Office in Libya has not yet received any evidentiary material or official correspondence from the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court regarding the alleged facts under prosecution.
The Ministry further stressed that Libya is not a signatory to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. Therefore, no Libyan citizen will be extradited outside the state’s territory.
Concluding its statement, the Ministry affirmed that the Libyan national judiciary possesses full jurisdiction to hear such cases and can ensure justice by local legislation and approved legal standards.
