The humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues to escalate, with the death toll from starvation and malnutrition reaching 101 since October 2023, including 80 children. In the past 24 hours alone, 15 Palestinians—including four children—have died.
The U.S. State Department announced that envoy Steve Witkoff will travel to the Middle East on Tuesday to finalize arrangements for a humanitarian corridor. Spokesperson Tamie Bruce said both sides have tentatively agreed to a new ceasefire and aid access.
Indirect negotiations between the Israeli Occupation and Hamas are currently underway in Doha, aiming for a 60-day truce and prisoner exchange.
Meanwhile, Gaza remains sealed off after more than 140 days of closed border crossings. Aid deliveries have been throttled, leaving more than two million residents facing acute food shortages. The Government Media Office in Gaza warned the territory is teetering on the edge of “mass death.”
Hamas fiercely criticized what it described as the “official Arab and Islamic silence” in response to the crisis. “The reactions fall short of the catastrophe confronting 2.25 million people,” it said.
The group also denounced the failure to act on resolutions passed at the emergency Arab-Islamic summit held in Riyadh in November 2023. Hamas urged nations to “take a historic stance” by activating diplomatic pressure to break the blockade and accelerate aid deliveries.
As part of those demands, Hamas called on Arab and Islamic governments to sever ties with Israel, expel its diplomats, and shut down its embassies—steps it views as preliminary moves toward isolating the occupying force and halting its crimes against the Palestinian people
