On Wednesday morning, Libya’s national swimming team departed Mitiga International Airport en route to Singapore to compete in the 22nd edition of the World Aquatics Championships—one of the sport’s most prestigious global events.
Representing Libya are swimmers Mohamed Youssef Sassi, who will compete in the 100m and 200m freestyle, and Anas Hisham Qneidi, entered in the 50m and 100m breaststroke. The team is led by national coach Salem Al-Taher Areibi, with delegation head Osman Al-Qanin, who is also the president of the Libyan Swimming Federation.
This participation reflects the federation’s ongoing efforts to support Libyan athletes and elevate the country’s presence on the international stage. It also offers valuable exposure to elite competition ahead of future sporting commitments.
