The Libyan High Judicial Institute took part in a regional legal symposium held at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo on 27–28 July 2025, focused on Israeli war crimes in Palestinian territories and the role of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in prosecuting those responsible. The event was organized by the Arab Center for Legal and Judicial Research in collaboration with the League’s General Secretariat.
Representing the institute were Director-General Dr. Diaa El-Din Khomaj, also a board member of the Arab Center, and Deputy Director Dr. Mokhtar Ashnan, who delivered a presentation stressing the urgency of pursuing accountability for war crimes and acts of genocide against the Palestinian people. He called for activating the ICC’s mandate and spotlighting international justice mechanisms to prevent impunity.
On the sidelines of the symposium, a coordination meeting was held between the Libyan Institute and the Arab Center at Libya’s League delegation office, under the patronage of the Libyan ambassador. Discussions focused on strengthening judicial cooperation and launching joint training programs to build the capacity of Libyan legal professionals in line with evolving legal standards.
The institute’s participation reflects its academic and training mission, as well as its commitment to just causes, foremost among them the Palestinian issue, and its support for legal pathways aimed at securing justice and holding perpetrators of grave violations accountable.
