Nigeria’s women’s national team has claimed its tenth Africa Cup of Nations title following a thrilling 3–2 victory over hosts Morocco in Saturday’s final in Rabat. The win further cements Nigeria’s dominance in the continental tournament, having now won 10 of the 13 editions held to date.
The match unfolded dramatically, with Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses taking a commanding 2–0 lead in the first half through goals by Ghizlane Chebbak (13’) and Sanae Masoudi (24’). But Nigeria’s Super Falcons mounted a fierce second-half comeback: Esther Okoronkwo converted a penalty in the 64th minute, followed by a swift equalizer from Folashade Ighamelusi (71’), and a late winner from Jennifer Echegini in the 88th minute.
The final, played before a packed crowd at Rabat’s Olympic Stadium, marked Morocco’s second consecutive runner-up finish, while Nigeria maintained its perfect record in tournament finals.
