Libyan chess champion Yusuf Al-Hassadi has secured a bronze medal at the Arab Youth Chess Championship (ages 8–18), held in Morocco, marking a new milestone for Libya’s rising sports talent.
Al-Hassadi delivered a standout performance, including a surprise victory over the tournament’s top seed in one of the event’s most dramatic upsets. Despite the win, he finished third overall after a fierce contest with some of the Arab world’s strongest young players.
The result offers a major boost for the young Libyan star ahead of his next challenge: the African Youth Championship, one of the continent’s premier chess tournaments.
