Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aaty called for sanctions on any faction obstructing Libya’s electoral process, warning that persistent delays only deepen the country’s political paralysis.
Abdel Aaty demanded the withdrawal of foreign forces and the dismantling of armed militias, a prerequisite, he said, for holding fair and timely elections.
“There has been zero progress,” he noted bluntly, stressing that Cairo’s stance remains unwavering: without decisive international intervention, Libya’s deadlock will drag on.
He argued that if the global community is serious about ending the crisis, it must push for simultaneous parliamentary and presidential elections, without delay, and compromise.
