Vice President of Libya’s Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, met on Sunday with Germany’s Ambassador to Libya, Ralph Tarraf, at the Council’s headquarters in Tripoli to discuss ways to support the country’s political process and overcome the current stalemate.
During the meeting, Ambassador Tarraf provided a detailed briefing on the outcomes of the recent gathering of the heads of the four working groups stemming from the Berlin Process. Held with the participation of the UN Support Mission in Libya, the meeting resulted in a new strategic framework for the next phase to reviving the four tracks of security, political, economic, and humanitarian, in line with the UN’s vision and to strengthen international coordination.
Both sides emphasized the importance of adopting practical and realistic approaches to achieve progress, focusing on the quality of outcomes and swift implementation to open broader pathways for peaceful solutions and safeguard national stability.
Al-Lafi praised Germany’s pivotal role in sponsoring the political track and its continued support for the Presidential Council’s efforts to maintain calm and bring Libyan factions to the negotiating table. He stressed that the current phase requires serious international cooperation to prevent further political complications.
For his part, Ambassador Tarraf reaffirmed Germany’s full support for the Council’s initiatives, particularly those aimed at preserving stability, bridging political divides, and fostering an inclusive environment that enables Libyans to reach a comprehensive and sustainable settlement rooted in the Berlin Process and aligned with UN efforts.
