Libya’s Presidential Council head, Mohamed Al-Menfi, took part this morning in the opening session of the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs), held in Avaza, Turkmenistan.
Al-Menfi was welcomed at the venue by Turkmenistan’s national leader, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, alongside UN Secretary-General António Guterres.
The conference, convened under UN auspices and based on a General Assembly resolution passed in April 2025, is backed by 57 member states. It has drawn over 1,000 participants, including heads of state, ministers, policy experts, and representatives from global institutions and stakeholders.
Its central aim is to craft sustainable strategies that foster regional cooperation, improve trade and logistics infrastructure, and promote inclusive development for landlocked nations, enhancing their resilience in the face of economic and developmental hurdles.
