In a meeting held at the Libyan Embassy in Cairo, Ambassador Abdelmutallab Thabet — currently overseeing diplomatic affairs in Egypt — met with Libyan university students to address a series of unresolved educational challenges. The session brought together the cultural attaché, consular director, financial auditor, and representatives from the Libyan Students’ Union.
Students voiced frustration over bureaucratic delays in extending study periods, the lack of comprehensive medical insurance, and the absence of clear procedures for those self-funding their education. They also urged the embassy to improve coordination with Egyptian universities and expedite the activation of the cultural attaché’s digital services platform.
Ambassador Thabet acknowledged the urgency of these issues and stressed the embassy’s responsibility to support students and remove barriers to their academic success. He committed to personally following up on the outcomes of the meeting, aiming to create a more stable and responsive educational environment that reflects the ambitions of Libya’s youth abroad.
