Benghazi is gearing up for one of the year’s most anticipated entertainment spectacles as the Italian circus prepares to launch its performances on Thursday, 8 August, at Kish Square. The event marks a major highlight of the second edition of the Benghazi Summer Festival 2025, drawing eager audiences of all ages.
Running through 31st August, the show features the internationally touring troupe “Darix Martini Miranda Orfei Circus,” known for its breathtaking acts including aerial ribbons, flying machines, hand-balancing, tightrope walking, and the famed “Wheel of Death” by Crazy Wilson. The lineup also includes trained animal performances and acrobatic feats by artists like Nikolai’s Icarian games.
The production incorporates advanced visual effects and mechanical arms that transform the arena into a live-action stage, complete with giant King Kong scenes, flying balloons, and Transformer-style robots. A live orchestra accompanies the two-hour show.
The troupe includes over 130 performers and technicians, supported by a fleet of more than 40 buses and professional equipment. In previous tours, the circus attracted over one million spectators in 2019 alone.
Among its standout stars is Michael Martini, dubbed “the boy who rides the wind,” who holds a Guinness World Record as the youngest acrobat to perform a quadruple somersault on the flying trapeze. He and his sister Angela Martini were awarded the Monte Carlo Festival Prize by Princess Stéphanie of Monaco.
The circus performance is one of the flagship events of this year’s Benghazi Summer Festival, which features a wide array of cultural, artistic, and entertainment programming — reflecting growing public enthusiasm for high-quality events in Libya’s cultural landscape
