Libya’s western military commander, General Mohamed al-Haddad, met with UN Special Envoy Hanna Tetteh on Wednesday in Tripoli to discuss ongoing efforts to stabilize the country.
During the meeting, al-Haddad reaffirmed the army’s commitment to supporting all initiatives that safeguard Libya’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity. He welcomed the UN delegation and emphasized the importance of constructive engagement with international partners.
Tetteh praised the general’s role in resolving internal disputes and advancing peace efforts, expressing the UN’s readiness to play a more active role in supporting Libya’s path toward security and development.
The visit comes amid renewed diplomatic efforts to consolidate stability in Libya, where political fragmentation and security challenges continue to hinder progress.
