Libya’s national basketball team has bowed out of the 2025 Afrobasket tournament in Angola, following a decisive 83–55 loss to Guinea in the final round of group-stage play.
The match, which marked the team’s last chance to stay in contention, saw Guinea dominate from the outset, dictating the tempo and pulling away with a comfortable margin. Libya struggled to keep pace, unable to mount a meaningful challenge against the West African side’s aggressive play.
With this third consecutive defeat, Libya’s campaign ends at the group stage. The team had previously fallen to hosts Angola and South Sudan, leaving them winless in the tournament.
Despite the early exit, coaching staff and players expressed hope that the continental experience would serve as a stepping stone for future competitions, emphasizing the need for stronger preparation and tactical refinement ahead of upcoming international fixtures.
