Libya reaffirmed its commitment to regional development and international cooperation on Wednesday as it took part in the ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD), held in Yokohama, Japan.
The Libyan delegation was led by Presidential Council member Abdullah al-Lafi, accompanied by Taher al-Baour, acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in the Government of National Unity. Both officials attended the opening session, which focused on strengthening African–Japanese partnerships and advancing stability and sustainable development across the continent.
Libya’s participation signals its intent to remain actively engaged in global and regional forums, particularly those aimed at fostering inclusive growth and collaborative solutions to shared challenges. As African nations seek deeper ties with Japan and other development partners, Libya’s presence underscores its aspiration to contribute meaningfully to the continent’s evolving diplomatic and economic landscape.
