The High National Elections Commission (HNEC) inaugurated its Count and Audit Center on Sunday at its Tripoli headquarters, marking a key phase in Libya’s municipal election process. The launch follows the receipt of ballot result forms from 26 municipalities where voting took place on Saturday, 16 August.
A team of 157 staff members began processing the data, ensuring accuracy and transparency through standardized technical procedures. The center serves as a central hub for compiling and verifying forms submitted from polling stations, which are then entered into HNEC’s electronic system ahead of the preliminary results announcement.
The Commission emphasized that all stages of the counting and auditing process are subject to strict oversight by specialized committees, with the presence of both domestic and international observers as well as accredited media outlets. The initiative aims to reinforce public trust and uphold the integrity of the electoral process.
