Libya’s Government of National Unity (GNU) has strongly condemned the failed attempt to target the headquarters of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, describing it as a dangerous act aimed at undermining national security and damaging Libya’s relations with the international community.
In an official statement, the GNU praised the swift response of the Ministry of Interior and its security units, whose vigilance led to the interception of the attack. Authorities successfully seized a vehicle equipped with additional rockets and a launch base, effectively foiling the plot and reaffirming the readiness of state institutions to protect UN and diplomatic missions, as well as other vital facilities.
The government stressed that it will not tolerate such acts and is committed to pursuing those responsible and bringing them to justice. It also reiterated its categorical rejection of any systematic incitement to violence targeting the UN mission or other international delegations.
Reaffirming its broader security strategy, the GNU emphasized its commitment to building unified, professional security institutions and dismantling unlawful armed formations. These efforts, it said, are essential to reinforcing state stability and upholding the rule of law. The incident has further galvanized calls for institutional reform and enhanced protection of diplomatic entities operating in Libya.
