Libya’s Anti-Forgery and Counterfeiting Directorate has apprehended a man and a woman accused of promoting forged educational certificates, some priced as high as 3,000 Libyan dinars.
According to the Criminal Investigation Unit, the arrests followed a tightly coordinated sting operation that exposed a network operating through a fake Facebook page named “Certified Diplomas.” An undercover officer initiated contact with the page administrators, posing as a prospective buyer. After a week of communication, a delivery meeting was arranged, leading to the arrest of the female suspect and her male accomplice, with support from the women’s police division.
During interrogation, both suspects admitted to direct dealings with clients. Investigators documented pricing schemes that included 3,000 dinars for university diplomas, 1,000 for secondary school certificates, and between 500 to 800 for preparatory-level credentials.
The case has been referred to the Public Prosecution. Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to combating forgery and safeguarding the integrity of Libya’s educational institutions.
