The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in Libya, Hanna Tetteh, has discussed the roadmap towards elections and the unification of institutions with the US Chargé d’Affaires in Libya, Jeremy Berndt. Tetteh recently presented the roadmap in her briefing to the UN Security Council on the 21st of this month.
During the meeting, the two sides focused on the necessary preliminary steps and stressed the importance of cooperation with Libyan institutions to implement the first phase of the roadmap. They also discussed how the international community could support the gradual implementation of the plan to ensure successful outcomes.
Both parties are committed to engaging with other key Libyan actors to achieve the desired results.
