In a call addressed to the youth of Libya, Abdel Salam Nassia, a Member of the House of Representatives, has warned that war means nothing but destruction and that the Libyan issue cannot be resolved by weapons.
In a message delivered via his Facebook page, he warned that “war brings nothing but body parts and death,” and that the blood of Libyans is “too precious to be shed in a conflict for positions or in the service of foreign agendas.” He added that “the time has come to say: enough of the bloodshed, killing, displacement, and ruin,” stressing that the country is in desperate need of tolerance, consensus, and the rule of reason.
Nassia emphasised that the real solution lies in unifying state institutions and sitting down at a serious dialogue table to address the major contentious issues that hinder state-building, such as the position of the head of state, weapons, and local governance. He also called for confronting schemes of discord and division.
Nassia concluded by affirming that the youth are not a “project of death and destruction,” but rather “the fuel for construction, the guardians of the constitution, and the protectors of the future.” He urged them not to be drawn into corruption and to work to build a strong state of justice, because “weapons do not build a state; rather, consensus and mutual compromise are the foundation.”
