Benghazi has hosted a high-level Italian medical delegation, which includes 14 professors specialising in complex medical fields. The visit is part of the “Marshal’s Initiative for Comprehensive Healthcare,” an effort to localise medical treatment within Libya.
The delegation held an extensive meeting at the headquarters of the E’mar Libya for Medical Services company, with the participation of officials from the Ministry of Health and directors of both public and private hospitals. The meeting focused on assessing the capacity of the health facilities and developing a plan to perform complex surgical procedures.

Field visits were also conducted to Dar Al-Shifa Hospital, Dar Al-Hikma Hospital, and the Benghazi Medical Center to evaluate their readiness to receive critical and difficult cases. Discussions also covered plans for training national medical staff in collaboration with the Italian experts, a step intended to enhance local capabilities and move towards medical self-sufficiency.

This initiative is sponsored by the Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Khaled Haftar, supported by Prime Minister Dr. Osama Hammad, and supervised by Minister of Health Dr. Othman Abdul-Jalil.
