The Tourism Police and Antiquities Protection Branch in Al-Marb, in coordination with the Leptis Magna Antiquities Control Office, has announced that it successfully thwarted the theft of several antiquities in Souq al-Khamis (Qauqas) area. The artifacts had been transported by a truck to a rest house in the Al-Amamra area.
The teams successfully seized the ancient artifacts and arrested the suspects. They were subsequently referred to the Public Prosecution Office in Khoms to complete legal proceedings.
The Ministry of Interior affirmed that this operation is part of its ongoing efforts to protect Libya’s cultural heritage and ensure the security of its archaeological sites.
