On Sunday, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Interior’s headquarters, chaired by Major General Mohamed Al-Marhani, the head of the Migration and Border Security Committee. The meeting included representatives from the Ministry of Interior, as well as international organizations such as OCHA, IOM, UNHCR, WHO, UNFPA, and UNICEF, in addition to the Libyan Relief Authority.
The meeting focused on coordinating with international partners to increase voluntary return and humanitarian evacuation flights. Participants also discussed overcoming obstacles to their implementation as part of the ministry’s plan to combat illegal immigration.
The attendees also discussed the temporary distribution of aid to Sudanese refugees until their return and a plan for the repatriation of Syrian refugees in cooperation with the Syrian government and relevant organizations.
This meeting coincided with ongoing repatriation operations. Authorities recently repatriated a group of migrants to Niger as part of the Government of National Unity’s initiative to organize humanitarian flights in accordance with national laws and international standards.
