The Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Armed Forces, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, received the Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Hanaa Tetteh, and her accompanying delegation at his office at the General Command headquarters.
The meeting focused on the roadmap presented by the UN mission to the Security Council on August 21 and the mechanisms for supporting the peaceful political process. The goal is to ensure a conducive environment for holding presidential and parliamentary elections in Libya.
Both sides also discussed the security situation in the capital, Tripoli, and ways to prevent escalating tensions to preserve its stability and the safety of its residents and public and private facilities.
The two parties stressed the importance of continued consultation and coordination to support stability efforts and provide the appropriate conditions for the success of the country’s political process.
