Italian airline ITA Airways has announced an extension of its suspension of direct flights between Rome and Tripoli’s Mitiga International Airport until October 31, 2025. The decision follows months of halted service due to operational challenges linked to security conditions.
According to the Italian outlet Business Mobility Travel, the airline stated that the move is part of a precautionary policy aimed at ensuring the safety of passengers and crew. ITA Airways confirmed it is closely monitoring developments on the ground in Libya to reassess future flight operations.
The airline had resumed commercial flights between Tripoli and Rome in January, after a hiatus of more than ten years, before suspending them again due to renewed security concerns.
