Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, received Dr. Amr Salama, Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities, along with his accompanying delegation and Dr. Azeddine Al-Darsi, President of Benghazi University.
The meeting focused on the role of Arab universities in advancing societal development, with Haftar emphasizing the importance of supporting scientific research programs to address challenges facing Arab nations.
He proposed hosting a scientific conference at Benghazi University in 2026, under the patronage of the Association of Arab Universities and with participation from researchers across various institutions. Preparations for the event are expected to begin in the near future.
Dr. Salama expressed appreciation for the significant progress made by Benghazi University and praised Haftar’s continued commitment to higher education.
