In a meeting held at Algeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, senior Libyan and Algerian officials discussed plans to reopen the Debdeb border crossing and expand strategic cooperation between the two countries.
Rashid Abu Ghafah, Secretary-General of Libya’s Cabinet Office, conveyed greetings from Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibah and congratulated Algerian Prime Minister Sifi Ghrib on his recent appointment. He emphasized Libya’s commitment to activating the joint high committee and accelerating the reopening of the crossing to boost regional connectivity and economic collaboration.
His counterpart, Lounès Mokramane, reaffirmed Algeria’s support for Libya’s Government of National Unity (GNU) and stressed that any resolution to the Libyan crisis must be led by Libyans through democratic elections. He also expressed Algeria’s readiness to support Libya in international forums.
The meeting was attended by both countries’ ambassadors and a delegation of experts, underscoring the shared intent to deepen coordination on key regional issues.
