Libya’s national boxing team launched its campaign at the 2025 International Boxing Championship in Chita, Russia, with a strong opening victory by international boxer Moataz Mejdi in the 67 kg division. Mejdi swiftly defeated his Chinese opponent with a technical knockout just seconds into the first round, showcasing his sharp form and readiness for high-level competition.
In contrast, fellow Libyan boxer Rawad Al-Barassi fell short in the 60 kg category, losing on points to an Armenian rival. Despite dominating the third round and controlling the rhythm of the match, the judges awarded the win to the Armenian boxer due to the narrow score margin.
The tournament features 20 national teams from some of the world’s top boxing nations, including Russia, Cuba, Kazakhstan, Belarus, China, Brazil, and Serbia, making the battle for medals intensely competitive.
