Former Deputy Speaker of Libya’s General National Congress and prominent human rights lawyer Jumaa Atiega has announced his participation in the “Omar Al-Mukhtar” Convoy of Steadfastness, declaring that he holds the Israeli occupation fully accountable for his personal safety.
In a public Facebook post, Atiega introduced himself by stating: “I am the Libyan lawyer Jumaa Ahmed Atiega, a Libyan national,” and confirmed his presence aboard what he described as the “Convoy of Steadfastness,” aimed at breaking the blockade on Gaza.
He emphasized that the mission is purely humanitarian and carries no hostile intent. “Should anything happen to me,” he wrote, “I hold the occupation legally and criminally responsible.”
Atiega is known for his legal activism and is a member of Amnesty International.
