Following a meeting in Moscow between Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin and UN envoy to Libya Hanna Tetteh, the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized that international support for UN-led efforts in Libya must be coordinated and inclusive, involving all key actors capable of influencing the political process. In its statement, the ministry reaffirmed its readiness to continue backing initiatives aimed at unifying Libya’s political, economic, and security institutions, underscoring the central role of Libyan citizens in shaping any sustainable resolution.
The talks addressed the UN Support Mission’s roadmap for institutional unification and preparing the country for presidential and parliamentary elections. The ministry stressed that international assistance must be thoughtful and well-coordinated, avoiding exclusion of any relevant party. The meeting also explored ways for UN member states to engage more effectively through the Berlin Process, in support of a Libyan-led political solution with broad international backing.
