The 13th edition of the Libya International Quran Competition opened on Saturday in Benghazi, bringing together 120 contestants from 75 countries. The opening ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Dr. Osama Hammad, Deputy Commander of the Armed Forces Lt. General Saddam Haftar, and Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs Atef Al-Obaidi.
The event also drew members of parliament, government ministers, senior officials, military leaders, and a distinguished gathering of scholars.
In his address, the Prime Minister highlighted Libya’s historic role as a center of scholarship and Quranic learning, describing the competition as a spiritual and intellectual beacon that unites hearts around the words of the Holy Quran.
He praised the efforts of the General Command of the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Endowments, commending the organizing committees and all contributors to the event’s success.
The competition is held under the patronage of the General Command, with government support and organization by the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs.
