The “Women for Peace” initiative officially launched today at the Vision Center, led by the Dorsaf Association for Awareness and Development in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). The project aims to equip Libyan women with the skills needed to play an active role in community-based mediation and conflict resolution.
Dialogue on Women’s Mediation Skills
The launch featured a seminar titled “Women’s Skills in Mediation and Conflict Resolution,” attended by civil society leaders and the head of the Commission for Tolerance and Reconciliation. The session explored mechanisms for empowering women in national reconciliation efforts and promoting a culture of dialogue and tolerance.
Training Across Five Key Cities
Kadriya Othman Al‑Shaheibi, President of the Dorsaf Association, stated that the initiative seeks to prepare a cadre of women capable of contributing to national reconciliation through targeted training programs and workshops in five major Libyan cities: Ajdabiya, Benghazi, Al‑Bayda, Derna, and Tobruk
