During the 47th General Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Montreal, Libya’s Minister of Transport and financial advisor to the Prime Minister, Mohamed Al-Shahoubi, held a series of strategic meetings aimed at advancing the country’s civil aviation sector.
His engagements included talks with the ICAO President at the organization’s headquarters, a meeting with the President of the African Civil Aviation Commission, and discussions with Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Transport. These meetings focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation, improving coordination mechanisms, and increasing the volume of transit flights through Libyan airspace.
Following these consultations, Al-Shahoubi confirmed that the Government of National Unity is moving toward lifting the airspace restrictions imposed on Libyan airlines. This policy shift aims to strengthen Libya’s position as a regional and international transit hub and to revitalize its aviation infrastructure.
